Day 10: Wadi Rum

Just when we thought things couldn't get any better....in comes Wadi Rum.  We got up at around 9:00 am this morning only to roll out of bed and onto chaise lounges on the Gulf of Aqaba (Red Sea).  Deed and I spent about 2 hours watching tankers fill up with oil at the Saudi Arabian port, soaking up the sun and swimming in the sea.  At 2:30 pm we headed out with Sue and Mark to take on Wadi Rum...Lawrence of Arabia's desert!!!  We arrived in the town of Rum shortly after 4 pm where we met up with our guide Mohammed.  He took us out in his Jeep on an adventure of a lifetime...enjoy today's pics!!!  By the way, a new heat record was attained...54C....that's right 5-4 degrees Celsius!!!!

  2. Damn is right Allan..Tim & Deed's pictures attest to some fundamental truth that not every camera in part is a telephone too.

I'm having to reconsider our trip now through Monument Valley Utah where we plan on being in a few weeks..what for, it's kind of anti-climatic to photograph red sandstone formations that appeared in every John Wayne movie or GM truck and Toyota TV commercial, or as background to the printing on my personal cheques?

I took Helen and the boys out to Swiss Chalet tonight, Ethan and Taylor were perfect gentlemen. I include this as testament to their unarguable accomplishment under the trademark of “Believe It or Not.” After supper, we crossed the parking lot at Vne to the Post Office in Zellers, under power by by E & T the boys went after all sorts of land-speed records...they were rewarded with a large bag Maynard's sour Peach gummies-- sugar for the boys was hardly Helen's first choice, she was thinking more of something like Sominex.

Love you Tom & Deed. really happy for you..Dad
